Pterosaur Asset Files-Pteranodon Nublar variant

Description

Now you probably already know this, but I love the Jurassic Franchise.
And because I'm such a fanboy, I'm super hyped for the next installment of this beloved franchise: Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom
So, to keep this hype-train rolling, I've decided to make files explaining the dinosaurs of Isla Nublar/Sorna, explaining how they behave, how much of their genetic code was altered by Ingen Scientists, and how they compare to their original counterparts.

One thing to note- I'll also be adjusting them slightly, like adding little bits of feathers here or there.
(mainly because I find it difficult to draw dinosaur without at least some form of proto-feathers)

The seventh creature on our list is among the species specially "bred" for jurassic world
This is- "PTEROSAUR-ASSET" FILES-3.3
Carnivore File- "Flying Spear-beak"

otherwise known as "Pteranodon Abominables Nublarensis"

for this post, I decided to focus on a variant that was specially bred for the park, Jurassic World.
This is because, if you look at the franchise, you'll find three variants of pteranodon
I have already shown you lot the second variant, seen in Jurassic Park 3 (look here if you haven't- taliesaurus.deviantart.com/art…)
Right now I'm showcasing the third variant (I will get to showing the first variant at some point) but the point is that with each version/variant, you'll see variations in how they look, how they behave and interact will other animals, and how they compare to their original counterpart.

The reason I bring this up is that, when jurassic world came out, some people wondered why the park's pteranodons looked so different from the ones in Jurassic Park three...
To that, I went off and researched the lore of the franchise, and I have found, there is a very logical reason in this franchise's universe.

You see, after the events of what our universe calls "Jurassic Park 3", three groups of "Pteranodon Hippocratesis" flew off Isla Sorna, (thanks to an escape route, accidentally provided by Amanda Kirby) and glided across the ocean, towards new nesting-ground opportunities. Some glided to other islands and harmlessly made rookeries of the cliff-tops, feeding off pacific fish species, but some more...ambitious flocks, flew al the way toward the main-land Canada and attacked the local humans residing there. Eventually, Ingen and the military, were forced to "clean up" the mess and killed off the invading pteranodons. this lead to Vick Hoskins being hired into Ingen's military department, made when the company got a "leg-up" from masrani global.
However, the whole pterosaur incident had left a bad impact on the public, especially those on the west-american shoreline, who had only just recovered from both the San-Diego incident as well as the bigger disaster the early 2000's- 9/11!

So when jurassic World was was open to the public in 2005, Simon Masrani assured everyone that although they were going to put pteranodons in the park, they would be very different.
It would be "more appealing" (which meant scary looking) but would properly contained in a solid aviary, made of bullet proof glass.

essentially what this all means is that the jurassic world pteranodons were bred to look that way, as a means of avoiding "bad-press".
But ironically, in the Nublar-incident of 2015, they actually turned out to be more aggressive than the sorna variant.

But aside from all that, I like this variant, because we actually got to see it dive into the water, which I suspect is what the original pteranodon was capable of doing.
But since we only saw the female version (hence the short crests) I decided to speculate what the male one would be like, I imagined it as a bright blue, with a longer crest and a slight tinge of purple around the beak.

It is now unknown what happened to this variant of pteranodon, a lot of them were tranquillised, but we have yet to know what Ingen did with the unconscious pterosaurs after that.
All I can say is that it will likely be one of the thousand questions, answered in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Update June 2018- as mount Sibo erupted, HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of these large pterosaurs escaped the island and now they are roaming across the pacific ocean, eaing fish, lizards, cats and other small animals.

Fun fact: There was a male ptera that has the same color as the jw ptera but with a blue part instead of red on its head and longer crest.
